Winter Concert Success

The La Cima Middle School Band had a fabulous performance at the Winter Arts Fair held December 9, 2009. The turnout was huge and the reception from the audience was very positive.

More great things lie ahead in the spring with a district band, orchestra, and choir festival, Forum Music Festival in California, and the Spring concert. Expectations are still high and students should continue to practice music from the plethora of books they have in their folder and the music library. They are allowed to practice at their leisure over the holidays by picking music they like and practicing it. They should also continue to practice scales (concert pitch) F, Bb, Eb, Ab, and add C and Db to the list.

Beginners should continue to practice music from "Accent On Achievement" and listen/play along with the accompaniment CD included in the book.

The Spring will be even more challenging but the students of La Cima Band are fully capable of meeting those demands!

Holiday Concert Around the Corner

December 9 will be here before you know it, so let's make sure we go over details before the concert. The concert is a requirement of the class, since it is a performing group and it is for CREDIT. If you do not attend the concert, your grade will be dramatically reduced!

  • Be 30 minutes early, and even more early to set up if you are in Jazz Band.
  • Have a crisp white shirt and black pants. Please iron them so they look nice.
  • You will be able to warm-up and tune in the band room before our performance begins.
  • Line up in order before we make our way to the stage so that we look orderly when we enter the stage. 1st row, starting with first clarinets, then 2nd row starting with saxophones, 3rd row starting with the tuba. The percussion should be set up before we go on stage, and that will happen during the school day.
  • HAVE FUN! You're going to do great!
